Cerro Kennedy Expedition– Endemic Birds at 3,000 m

Endemic birds. Cloud forest peaks. A high-altitude adventure.

Duration: 6 hours
Departure: Minca Church, 4:15 AM
Altitude: 3,000 m.a.s.l. (54–80 °F)
Group Size: 3–6 people per guide

This 6-hour expedition takes you deep into the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, reaching altitudes of 3,000 meters where the forest becomes a sanctuary for rare and endemic species. We ride a 4x4 vehicle into the clouds to begin our journey through one of Colombia's most breathtaking birdwatching destinations.

Guided by an expert bilingual naturalist with 15+ years of experience, you'll learn to recognize unique bird calls, observe species like the Santa Marta Brushfinch or the White-tipped Quetzal, and photograph them in their natural habitat. Along the way, you'll enjoy a traditional countryside breakfast and take in panoramic views as the sun rises over the peaks.

As part of the experience, you'll receive a professional bird photography package and a complete eBird species list from your outing, so you can remember and share every sighting.
