About Nuwabirdlife

We are a locally rooted agency, born in the forests of Minca.
Nuwabirdlife was founded by Otto Garavito, a local guide and member of the Kogui community, whose passion for birds and deep respect for nature shaped the foundation of this project. With over 15 years of experience leading travelers through the Sierra Nevada, Otto created more than a tour company — he created a movement.

Our mission is to share the biodiversity and cultural richness of this sacred territory through responsible, conscious tourism. Every outing is an opportunity to witness, to learn, and to protect. From endemic bird species to ancestral traditions, our experiences are crafted with intention and care.

We work in small groups (max. 6 people per guide), ensuring that every journey is personalized, sustainable, and immersive. Our team of bilingual experts combines scientific knowledge, storytelling, and hospitality to guide you through forests, cloud-covered peaks, and cultural paths with respect and curiosity.

Beyond tourism, Nuwabirdlife collaborates with local communities to strengthen environmental education, intergenerational knowledge sharing, and the preservation of ecosystems. A portion of what we do supports conservation programs and rural school projects.
